A new reforestation project is being financed by the Sorbonne Business School in the commune of Crémarest (62240) in the Pas-de-Calais region and has recently been awarded the Label Bas-Carbone (LBC) promoted by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and Solidarity.
After three labeled projects in Gironde, one in Vendée and one in Oise, the Sorbonne Business School continues its CSR commitment in Pas-de-Calais with the forestation of 3.5 hectares of land.
As of 2020, the Sorbonne Business School has committed to offsetting the carbon footprint of emissions linked to its international missions: our establishment is thus the first university to have implemented LBC-certified carbon offset projects.
At Crémarest, afforestation will be carried out with a wide variety of species, all indigenous: oak, maple, beech, hornbeam, lime etc.
The potential of these hardwood species?
In total, this will store approximately 800 tCO2 over 30 years.
Beyond these hardwoods, a pond will be dug to accommodate biodiversity in the middle of the plot on a wetland. Part of the afforestation runs alongside a river and will help constitute a riparian forest to stabilize bank erosion.
