An ambitious and sustainable 2022-2024 strategic plan for the Sorbonne Business School to consolidate its leadership position

Following the appointment of Éric Lamarque in August 2021 for a second term as Director, the renewed management team at the Sorbonne Business School has drawn up its 2022-2024 strategic plan as part of a participative process involving the entire school community (administrative and teaching staff, student and alumni representatives, members of the Board of Directors). This ambitious yet realistic strategic plan is in line with the school's ongoing development, while opening up new horizons for the university business school.

Voted by the Board of Directors on March 14, 2022, the 2022-2024 strategic plan aims to consolidate Sorbonne's leadership in a highly competitive environment where crises and uncertainty will continue to have a significant impact for a long time to come.

It was guided by a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and the desire to respect sustainable development objectives, in line with Sorbonne Business School's humanist values and its mission as a public university service.

Implementation of the strategic plan will be facilitated by the passage to Extended Responsibilities and Competences (RCE), or even by a change in status, to enable Sorbonne Business School, now an Établissement Public Administratif (EPA), greater autonomy and thus greater control over its HR and real estate policies.

This strategic plan is based on several key issues:

  • Strengthen the attractiveness of the Sorbonne Business School with a view to increasing its student enrolment in a reasoned manner in order to stabilize it at around 2,800 students within 2 years

In particular, the aim is to improve the student experience, notably by offering responsible and better adapted premises, as well as by stimulating and supporting students' civic involvement through associative projects.

This challenge directly concerns programs, by further digitizing the training offering through innovative formats with the support of specialized operators (On line Programme Manager), integrating societal issues (environment, diversity, inclusion) across the board, and offering enhanced support in terms of professional integration and career development.

It also involves developing the visibility of research, by consolidating partnerships through international collaborations or within the framework of Sorbonne Recherche en Management (SRM) set up with the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, by providing more support and training for teacher-researchers in order to develop the scientific output of the LAB Sorbonne Business School laboratory. This will help attract more young people to the doctoral program.

  • Further develop links with the professional world

The aim is to foster collaborations with companies and organizations, both in terms of training and research, in order to reinforce its position as a key reference in the market for higher education in management sciences and management. In this context, Sorbonne Business School plans to set up a subsidiary to facilitate the establishment of an incubator, consultancy and research services for companies, and the deployment of short certification courses.

  • Consolidating the international dimension of IAE Paris-Sorbonne

The aim is to ensure greater international visibility, particularly in Europe, through new collaborations in both training and research, drawing on the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, Una Europa scheme, associating 8 major European universities (University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, France; Freie Universität Berlin, Germany; Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, Italy; Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, Poland; Helsingin Yliopisto, Finland; University of Edinburgh, UK; KU Leuven, Belgium; Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain).

More broadly, Sorbonne Business School aims to consolidate its international partnerships and capitalize on these agreements to develop training courses. The aim is also to obtain international accreditation within five years, a guarantee of visibility with foreign audiences.

The Sorbonne Business School is also keen to develop the international dimension of its courses, opening up the possibility of greater student mobility and the establishment of double degrees (with UQAM in Canada, for example).
